Stormtroopers escorted a Jedi-robed Steve Wozniak, cofounder of Apple, on stage at the first ever Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose, California, on Saturday.

In 2014, Wozniak and his business partner Rick White dreamt up a convention that combined their love of technology and entertainment. They wanted to hold it in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose, which is also the city of Woz's birth.

There, Silicon Valley Comic Con was born.

"[Wozniak] probably drove down Woz Boulevard getting here," White joked during the event's opening ceremony, referencing the very real street that cuts through the downtown area. "It couldn't be anywhere else."

Inside the event, the Woz is truly everywhere. His face is superimposed on a circuit board in one of the convention's logos. There's a wax figure in his likeness, made by Madame Tussauds San Francisco, a kitschy museum where tourists take selfies with life-sized celebrity dolls.

As I waited in line outside the main ballroom for the opening ceremony where Wozniak would speak, the man himself strolled past a crowd of fans. "Woz! Woz! Woz!" they chanted over the sounds of cameras.

While celebrities Jeremy Renner, Nathan Fillion, and the cast of "Back to the Future" will take the stage at Silicon Valley Comic Con this weekend, Wozniak is the idol to rule them all.
